WA Gold Maps Nine SAM Anomalies Over 4km Near Minerals 260’s 4.5Moz Project

WA Gold's SAM survey defined nine anomalies across more than 4km of strike, giving the company a fresh list of Bullabulling drill targets next to Minerals 260's 4.5Moz project.

  • A high-resolution SAM survey of about 125 line-km defined nine MMC anomalies with over 4km of combined strike at WA Gold's 100%-owned Bullabulling Project.
  • The largest western anomaly covers roughly 900m of the Bullabulling Shear Zone, where shallow holes returned only low-level gold and were not designed to test deeper mineralisation.
  • An eastern anomaly encompasses 26BBRC027 (4m @ 0.25g/t Au) and the 2.6km +20ppb Au trend, giving WA Gold a coincident geophysical and geochemical target.
  • Conductivity anomalies are not proof of gold, and no resource or confirmed mineralisation is reported.
  • Next-round RC drilling is planned after the Abercromby programme, subject to rig availability and heritage approvals, with no start date or budget disclosed.

Nine SAM anomalies and 4km of strike defined at Bullabulling North

WA Gold (ASX: WAU) has reported results from a high-resolution Sub-Audio Magnetic (SAM) survey at its 100%-owned Bullabulling Project, located 30km west of Coolgardie. The sub-audio magnetic survey defined nine magnetometric conductivity (MMC) anomalies with a combined strike length of over 4km.

Dias Geophysics completed about 125 line-km of data acquisition in September / October 2026. For you as an investor, the result gives WA Gold a defined list of targets to rank ahead of its next round of RC (reverse circulation) drilling.

Ben Pollard, CEO, WA Gold

“Having over 4km of strike to work with in our next round of drilling gives us multiple shots at discovery, and we believe it materially improves our chances of finding a new gold deposit at Bullabulling…”

Where the anomalies sit

The survey covered two areas where WA Gold’s recent reconnaissance drilling returned encouraging gold anomalism. All nine anomalies lie along the two structural corridors the company is targeting.

Survey area Target structure Number of anomalies Key feature
Western Bullabulling Shear Zone (BBSZ) 4 Largest anomaly covers approximately 900m of strike
Eastern Ultramafic contact shear zone 5 Covers the 26BBRC027 anomaly

Bullabulling Shear Zone (western area)

Four anomalies sit along or immediately adjacent to the interpreted BBSZ. The largest, at the southern end of the survey area, is an elongate, high-amplitude response extending over approximately 900m of strike.

Shallow holes crossing it returned only low-level gold values. They were not designed to test for primary mineralisation at depth, and the anomaly remains a priority target for deeper drilling.

A third anomaly lies a few hundred metres north of end-of-hole results in 26BBRC008 (2m @ 0.16g/t Au from 52m to end of hole) and historical hole BBRX1586 (5m @ 0.12g/t Au from 40m to end of hole). WA Gold says these together define an emerging geochemical vector along the BBSZ.

Ultramafic contact (eastern area)

Five anomalies were defined along the regional-scale ultramafic contact. This area also covers the roughly 2.6km long +20ppb Au anomalous trend from the reconnaissance drilling.

In the south-west, an elongate anomaly encompasses the end-of-hole result in 26BBRC027 (4m @ 0.25g/t Au from 40m to end of hole). That gives WA Gold a coincident geophysical and geochemical target.

At the north-eastern end, a strong anomaly straddles the interpreted prospective shear zone close to a mapped fold axis, a structural setting the company considers favourable for gold mineralisation.

What SAM is and why it suits Bullabulling

SAM is a high-resolution ground geophysical technique that measures total magnetic intensity and magnetometric conductivity at the same time. Conductivity maps electrically conductive zones underground, which in orogenic gold systems can reflect sulphide-bearing alteration, quartz–sulphide veining and conductive shear zones.

WA Gold says the technique suits areas of regolith cover, such as Bullabulling, where gold-bearing structures are not exposed at surface. The anomalous end-of-hole interval in 26BBRC008 was logged with quartz veining and approximately 2% pyrite, which the company describes as consistent with this.

There is an important caveat. Conductivity anomalies can also come from graphitic or shale units and conductive regolith, and do not by themselves indicate gold mineralisation. Drill testing is required to determine the source and significance of each anomaly.

Strategic position and next steps

Investment angle

WA Gold’s tenure sits adjacent to the Bullabulling Gold Mine. The BBSZ is the structure interpreted to extend north from Minerals 260’s 4.5Moz Bullabulling Gold Project into WA Gold’s tenure.

On 14 May 2026, Minerals 260 announced it had expanded its tenure from 130 sq km to 1,160 sq km. WA Gold states its project remains the only significant independently-owned tenure in the region not owned by Minerals 260.

This announcement does not report a resource or confirmed mineralisation at WA Gold’s project. The anomalies are geophysical targets only.

Next steps

The company outlined the following steps:

  1. Integrate the SAM data with geochemical, drilling and geological datasets to rank the nine anomalies and refine drill targets.
  2. Complete planning for the next round of RC drilling to test priority anomalies for primary gold mineralisation at depth, planned to commence after the current Abercromby programme (subject to rig availability and heritage approvals).
  3. Incorporate assay results from 34 x 1m re-split samples, which are pending.
  4. Continue engagement with the Marlinyu Ghoorlie Native Title Group to finalise a Heritage Agreement.

The announcement does not disclose a drilling start date or budget. Watch for the target ranking and heritage progress, as these shape when drilling can begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Sub-Audio Magnetic (SAM) survey?

SAM is a high-resolution ground geophysical technique that measures total magnetic intensity and magnetometric conductivity at the same time. It maps conductive zones that in orogenic gold systems can reflect sulphide-bearing alteration, quartz-sulphide veining and conductive shear zones.

What did WA Gold's SAM survey at Bullabulling find?

The survey defined nine magnetometric conductivity anomalies with a combined strike length of over 4km. Four sit along the Bullabulling Shear Zone in the west and five along an ultramafic contact shear zone in the east.

Does a SAM anomaly mean there is gold at Bullabulling?

No. Conductivity anomalies can also come from graphitic or shale units and conductive regolith, so drill testing is required to determine the source and significance of each one. The announcement reports no resource or confirmed mineralisation.

What are WA Gold's next steps after the Bullabulling SAM survey?

The company will integrate the SAM data with other datasets to rank the nine anomalies, plan the next RC drilling round, and incorporate pending assays from 34 x 1m re-split samples. It is also working to finalise a Heritage Agreement with the Marlinyu Ghoorlie Native Title Group.

Where is WA Gold's Bullabulling Project located?

The 100%-owned project sits 30km west of Coolgardie in Western Australia, adjacent to the Bullabulling Gold Mine. The Bullabulling Shear Zone is interpreted to extend north from Minerals 260's 4.5Moz Bullabulling Gold Project into WA Gold's tenure.
