Pilbara Gold Hits 46m at 3.17g/t as Roe Hills Corridor Grows to 2km
Key Takeaways
- Pilbara Gold's first Roe Hills drill results include a standout 46m at 3.17g/t Au — more than three times the grade of the historic hole drilled 100 metres away in the same area.
- Strong mineralisation continuity between fence lines has defined a 1.5–2km gold corridor at the Terra Prospect, remaining open to the north, south, and at depth.
- Only 5,700 metres of a planned 12,000-metre program is complete, with approximately 6,300 metres still to drill across Terra and Caliburn, plus multiple assay results still pending from already-drilled holes.
- Roe Hills sits within 60km of four operating gold processing facilities — including Vault Minerals' Randalls Plant and Black Cat Syndicate's 1.2Mtpa Lakewood facility — materially reducing the infrastructure cost of any future production scenario.
- MD Dr Peter Turner has flagged program acceleration and expansion subject to continued positive results, while simultaneously targeting completion of the Mt York Pre-Feasibility Study by mid-2027.
Roe Hills delivers standout first results as PGL eyes a multi-kilometre gold corridor
Pilbara Gold Limited (ASX: PGL) has reported its first drill results from the Terra Prospect at the Roe Hills Gold Project, located 100km east of Kalgoorlie in WA’s Eastern Goldfields, and the numbers are immediately attention-grabbing. Three headline intercepts set the tone: 46m @ 3.17g/t Au from 92m, including 18m @ 4.36g/t Au from 110m (26RHRC001); 4m @ 9.91g/t Au from 144m, including 1m @ 33.62g/t Au from 145m (26RHRC006); and 7m @ 4.14g/t Au from 81m, including 3m @ 6.38g/t Au from 83m (26RHRC011). With approximately 5,700m of a ~12,000m proposed drilling program now complete, roughly 6,300m remains across the Terra and Caliburn Prospects.

High-grade hits, bleached alteration, and a system that keeps growing
The geology at Terra is telling a compelling story. Mineralisation is hosted in multiple stacked zones of quartz-carbonate veining within an extensive shear zone in basaltic and ultramafic rocks.
A shear zone-hosted gold deposit forms where rocks have been fractured and displaced by tectonic forces, creating pathways for gold-bearing fluids to flow and deposit metal. The alteration assemblage — the suite of minerals that form in the surrounding rock as those fluids pass through — acts as an exploration guide, telling geologists where gold-bearing systems were most active.
At Terra, the gold mineralisation is associated with a distinctive pyrite-sericite alteration assemblage that appears visibly “bleached” against the darker volcanic host rocks. This kind of contrast is a recognised fingerprint of many large Eastern Goldfields gold systems and gives field teams a reliable visual target when logging drill chips.
The scale signal is equally important. Strong continuity of mineralisation between fence lines demonstrates that a 1.5–2km long gold corridor is forming at Terra. Critically, mineralisation remains open to the north, south, and at depth — meaning “open to depth” signals that the system has not been closed off by drilling, leaving genuine resource growth potential in the downward direction.
The grade improvement over previous drilling adds another layer of significance. Hole 26RHRC001 was drilled 100m south of historic hole TD1, which returned 35m @ 1.00g/t Au from 116.5m. The new result of 46m @ 3.17g/t Au in the same area represents a material step-up in grade and width.
MD signals program acceleration as drilling continues
Dr Peter Turner, Managing Director, Pilbara Gold Limited
“These are tremendous initial results to begin our campaign at Roe Hills. We expect the project to develop in terms of scale as we drill more of the bedrock gold corridor. PGL understands the value-proposition of gold resources close to processing mills in the Kalgoorlie area and subject to continued positive drill results at Roe Hills, the Company will accelerate and expand its drilling program at Roe Hills whilst continuing resource-growth drilling at Mt York, targeting completion of its PFS by mid-2027.”
The quote captures a dual-track strategy: expanding the Roe Hills program subject to continued positive results, while simultaneously progressing the Mt York Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) targeting completion by mid-2027.
On the operational side, clay cover and groundwater forced the abandonment of three holes — 26RHRC002, 26RHRC008, and 26RHRC003 — before they reached their target depths. All three will be redrilled as a priority using diamond drilling, which is better suited to penetrating difficult clay horizons. This is a solvable logistical challenge that the company has already identified and planned for.
Surrounded by gold mills and major producers — the Kalgoorlie proximity play
In gold exploration, location relative to existing processing infrastructure can be as valuable as the resource itself. A discovery that sits within trucking distance of an operating mill has a significantly shorter and cheaper path to production than one requiring a standalone processing facility to be built from scratch.
Roe Hills sits in one of the most infrastructure-rich gold districts in Australia. Regional neighbours include:
- Vault Minerals (ASX: VAU): Mt Monger/Randalls Processing Plant, approximately 50km west; combined resources of approximately 3.8Moz
- Ramelius Resources (ASX: RMS): Roe Gold Project, approximately 50km north; 1.8Moz resource
- Forrestania Resources (ASX: FRS): Karonie Gold Project, approximately 15km north; 185,700oz resource (at 0.5g/t Au cut-off grade)
- Black Cat Syndicate (ASX: BC8): Kal East operations, approximately 60km west; 1.2Mtpa Lakewood Processing facility
| Neighbour | ASX Code | Asset | Distance from Roe Hills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vault Minerals | VAU | Mt Monger / Randalls Processing Plant (~3.8Moz combined resources) | ~50km west |
| Ramelius Resources | RMS | Roe Gold Project (1.8Moz resource) | ~50km north |
| Forrestania Resources | FRS | Karonie Gold Project (185,700oz resource) | ~15km north |
| Black Cat Syndicate | BC8 | Kal East / Lakewood Processing Facility (1.2Mtpa) | ~60km west |
PGL sits in the middle of an active, infrastructure-rich gold district. That context matters when evaluating the strategic value of any resource defined at Roe Hills.

6,300m of drilling ahead — Caliburn Prospect next in line
The program is far from over, and the remaining work plan is substantial. Next steps as outlined by the company include:
- Review Roe Hills drilling operations, incorporating an additional diamond drilling rig if available
- Complete the remaining approximately 6,300m of drilling at Terra and Caliburn
- Redrill failed holes (26RHRC002, 26RHRC008, and 26RHRC003) as a priority using diamond drilling
- Begin wireframing geological and mineralised domains for drill targeting
The Caliburn Prospect, located 3km south of Terra, is next in line for the RC rig once the current Terra program is complete. Caliburn already carries a strong historic intercept: 22m @ 1.55g/t Au from 144m, including 10m @ 2.77g/t Au from 144m. The bar for meaningful results at Caliburn is already set.
Importantly, a significant number of holes drilled at Terra are still awaiting assay results. That means the news flow from this program is not finished — further results from the current campaign are pending, and investors tracking ASX: PGL should expect additional data points as laboratory results are returned.
