What the two deep holes are revealing
Hole 12 (26YVRD012) — 735m deep, structural corridor confirmed
The company’s first deep diamond hole, 26YVRD012, was completed to approximately 735m depth and tested a priority target where copper geochemistry, major structures, an IP chargeability response and a magnetic low converge beneath the eastern side of Yataga Valley.
Between approximately 330m and 470m downhole, the hole intersected multiple Green Shear/Vein structures, including three zones of more concentrated Green Shear/Vein development. Visible chalcopyrite was confirmed in parts of these structures, together with pyrrhotite and pyrite, with the sulphides appearing structurally controlled.
This approximately 140m downhole interval represents the overall geological envelope in which the structures are present. EMU explicitly states this interval should not be interpreted as a mineralised intercept.
The relationship between the alteration system and the geophysical responses (IP chargeability and magnetic low) remains under evaluation. As the company’s cautionary statement makes clear, visual estimates of mineral abundance are not a substitute for laboratory analyses where concentrations or grades are the factor of principal economic interest.
Hole 15 (26YVRD015) — second deep test, drilling in progress
Diamond drilling is continuing in 26YVRD015, testing a separate IP chargeability target approximately 1km south of 26YVRD012. By 429.2m depth, the hole had commenced intersecting Green Shear zones containing sulphides, principally pyrite with minor visible chalcopyrite, following passage through hematite-altered faulting and associated veining.
The geological significance, width and continuity of these newly encountered Green Shear zones are not yet known, and it remains too early to determine how they relate to the structures encountered in 26YVRD012. The geological team is reviewing core daily as drilling progresses.
26YVRD015 provides a second deep geological test of the Yataga system, assisting in assessing the continuity and distribution of intrusive, structural, alteration and geophysical features recognised in 26YVRD012.

What Green Shear/Vein structures mean for copper exploration
Green Shear/Vein structures are zones within the rock where hydrothermal fluids have moved along fractures and faults, depositing minerals as they go. In an intrusive-related copper system like Yataga, these shear planes act as conduits that can concentrate copper-bearing minerals far more effectively than uniform dissemination through the host rock.
Chalcopyrite (pronounced kal-koh-PY-right) is the primary copper-bearing sulphide mineral investors should focus on here. It appears as a brassy, golden mineral in drill core and is the world’s most important source of copper. Critically, visible chalcopyrite in core tells you copper is present, but it cannot tell you how much. That question is only answered by laboratory assay.
The fact that visible chalcopyrite at Yataga is preferentially associated with discrete Green Shear/Vein structures, rather than being uniformly spread through the host rock, is geologically meaningful. Structurally controlled mineralisation of this kind can indicate zones of higher-grade potential, though this interpretation will only be confirmed when assay results are received.
EMU’s approach integrates geology, IP geophysics, electromagnetic surveys, geochemistry, LiDAR and detailed surface mapping. Combining these datasets improves confidence in which targets are worth drilling. The late September to mid-October assay window is when visual observations become quantitative copper grades — and that is the next material event for the Yataga project.

New western valley targets and what comes next
Undrilled western corridor now prioritised
Recent detailed geological mapping and sampling have further refined a series of priority targets on the western side of Yataga Valley, where granite, prominent aplite development, miarolitic cavities (small gas-pocket voids that form in cooling intrusive rocks), shear zones, veining and local copper occurrences have been mapped. This area, between approximately 3800N and 4800N, remains entirely undrilled.
Four existing drill pads are located within the priority target area. A further seven potential pads have been identified for follow-up drilling should initial holes provide geological encouragement.
The first proposed western hole is 26YVDD018, planned to approximately 320m depth at Easting 774820mE, Northing 8004001mN, dipping at -60°, targeting surface copper and complex intrusive/structural geology. Subject to the continuing geological assessment of 26YVRD015, 26YVDD018 is currently planned as the next diamond hole. The company’s bulldozer contractor is returning to site to prepare priority pads and access.
Assays and the next catalyst timeline
EMU’s immediate priorities at Yataga are:
- Continue drilling 26YVRD015 to target depth, subject to onsite logging and monitoring of the newly encountered Green Shear zones and sulphides
- Complete geological logging, structural measurements, sampling and supporting technical work as drilling advances
- Complete compilation of magnetic susceptibility, pXRF and relevant physical-property datasets from the deep drilling
- Receive and assess the first laboratory assays from 26YVRD012 and the RC programme, expected from around the end of September through to mid-October
- Prepare the highest-priority western Valley drill locations
- Commence drilling 26YVDD018 as the next planned diamond hole
The assay dataset will cover all RC holes (26YVRC001 to 26YVRC017) plus initial results from diamond tail 26YVRD012. This is the next quantitative step for Yataga, translating geological observations into copper grades against which the visible sulphides and alteration identified during drilling can be assessed.
