Albion Resources Hits 7m at 3.6 g/t Gold in First Hole, With More Assays Due
Key Takeaways
- Hole ABAC008 returned 7m at 3.6 g/t Au from 60m, including 3m at 6.7 g/t Au and a 1m spike of 10.0 g/t Au, in the first assays from the Gidgee Gold Project.
- The intercept sits about 200m south of historical drilling and lifts German Well South mineralisation from about 400m to about 600m of strike, though continuity is yet to be established.
- Only one of 53 completed aircore holes (4,510m) has reported, with samples from 15 holes at Intertek in Perth and more assays due in the coming weeks.
- RC drilling is already underway at German Well South, with initial results targeted for late November 2026, subject to laboratory turnaround.
- The 5km Tokey West Shear corridor and eight new targets sit in a belt hosting about 2.8Moz of Mineral Resources, but economic significance at Gidgee has not been established.
First aircore hole returns 7m at 3.6 g/t Au at Gidgee
Rush assays from a single aircore hole have handed Albion Resources (ASX:ALB) its first look at the Gidgee Gold Project. ABAC008 returned 7m at 3.6 g/t Au from 60m, including 3m at 6.7 g/t Au, about 200m south of the main historical drilling area at German Well South.
The same hole also returned a single 1m at 10.0 g/t Au from 63m to 64m. Separately, ABAC008 ended in gold mineralisation, with 1m at 0.8 g/t Au from 72m (the hole ended at 73m).
This is the first batch of results from the first week of drilling, and it covers one hole only. All intersections are downhole lengths, and true widths have not been established.
Peter Goh, Chief Executive Officer
“We are extremely encouraged by these initial aircore drilling results at Gidgee… Importantly, this intersection is located approximately 200m south of the main historical drilling area at German Well South, highlighting the potential for additional gold shoots along the interpreted trend…”
Key results from ABAC008:
- 7m at 3.6 g/t Au from 60m, including 3m at 6.7 g/t Au
- 1m at 10.0 g/t Au from 63m to 64m
- 1m at 0.8 g/t Au from 72m to the end of hole at 73m, in a saprock transitional zone
Saprock is partly weathered rock that sits between fully oxidised material and fresh bedrock. Gold in that zone at the bottom of the hole is why the company says the hole may warrant testing at depth.
The table below sets out the ABAC008 intercepts as reported by the company.
| Interval | From | Width | Grade | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Main intersection | **60m** | **7m** | **3.6 g/t Au** | Downhole length |
| Including | **63m** | **3m** | **6.7 g/t Au** | Within main intersection |
| Single metre | **63m** | **1m** | **10.0 g/t Au** | Individual 1m sample (63 to 64m) |
| End of hole | **72m** | **1m** | **0.8 g/t Au** | Hole ended at 73m |

What the result means for German Well South
Albion is reporting one hole out of a much larger program. Here is how that single result fits the wider picture.
Strike extends to about 600m
Together with historical drilling, the new intersection shows gold mineralisation over approximately 600m of strike along the interpreted German Well South trend. Historical drilling had defined approximately 400m. The company states that continuity is yet to be established through further drilling.
The program is also the first exploration drilling across the project since 2014, which the company describes as approximately 12 years. For investors, that means large parts of the ground are being tested with modern methods for the first time in over a decade.
Aircore drilling explained
Aircore drilling is a rapid and cost-effective technique suited to testing shallow, weathered and oxidised rock. The program aims to find gold anomalism in the weathering profile, particularly zones above 50 ppb Au (0.05 g/t Au), which may represent dispersion halos associated with underlying bedrock gold mineralisation.
In plain terms, it is a cheap first-pass tool. Anomalies are prioritised for follow-up infill drilling and deeper reverse circulation (RC) drilling to test potential higher-grade gold-bearing structures and quartz veins.
Program progress
Drilling progress to date:
- 53 aircore holes completed for 4,510m
- Samples from 15 holes submitted to Intertek in Perth, with results pending
- RC drilling now underway at German Well South, targeting extensions to known gold mineralisation at depth
- Planned program of 6,000m of aircore and 1,000m of RC drilling
Only ABAC008 has returned assays. The other holes have not yet been assessed for gold grade and should not be interpreted as barren.
Tokey West Shear and a proven gold belt
The interpreted Tokey West Shear extends approximately 2km north and 2.5km south of German Well South, forming approximately 5km of prospective structural corridor. Much of it remains largely untested by drilling.
Albion has also outlined eight new gold targets across the project’s shear corridors, which widens the pipeline well beyond German Well South.
Approximately 2km of that corridor extends into ground Albion recently optioned (announced 4 September 2026), towards Horizon Gold Limited’s Snook Group.
The Gum Creek Greenstone Belt hosts approximately 2.8Moz of identified gold Mineral Resources and has produced more than 1Moz of gold. The Omega deposit, about 3km north of Albion’s Tokey Central target, historically produced approximately 84,000oz at an average 5.3 g/t Au.
| Deposit | Owner | Figure | Relevance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Snook Group (Melbourne Bitter, Wahoo, Snook) | Horizon Gold Limited | Approximately **85,700oz** reported Mineral Resources | About 7km south of German Well South |
| Snook recent drilling | Horizon Gold Limited | **44m at 5.08 g/t Au** from 145m, including **11m at 16.30 g/t Au** from 174m | Regional context only |
| Omega | Historical production | Approximately **84,000oz** at **5.3 g/t Au** | About 3km north of Tokey Central |
Mineralisation at Snook is outside Albion’s tenure and is not necessarily indicative of mineralisation within the Gidgee Gold Project. These figures give regional context, not a forecast for Albion’s ground.

Next steps and upcoming catalysts
What should you watch for next? The company has outlined the following:
- Further aircore assay results expected in the coming weeks, with additional results anticipated progressively thereafter
- The aircore rig returning to the area around ABAC008 to better define the extent and continuity of mineralisation
- Initial RC assay results anticipated in late November 2026, subject to laboratory turnaround times
- Systematic soil geochemical sampling across the recently optioned ground
With RC and aircore rigs running in parallel, the company is advancing two objectives: building scale at German Well South and systematically testing the regional target pipeline, including Virgo, Tokey Central and the Wilson Splay. For investors, that points to a steady flow of assay results over the coming weeks and months.
The company cautions that the potential economic significance of the exploration results has not yet been established, and further work is required before any conclusions regarding resources or development can be drawn.
