Maronan Metals Launches $20M Placement to Speed Up Feasibility Study Push

- The money funds work beyond the existing program, including $7.2 million of drilling and $5.0 million for the Mining Lease application and early site works.
- A third rig starts in early November and a fourth is expected by December, with the expanded program targeted for completion in Q4 FY2027.
$20M placement at $0.40 fast-tracks Maronan’s DFS
Maronan Metals (ASX:MMA) has received firm commitments for a $20.0 million (before costs) placement of 50,000,000 new fully paid ordinary shares at $0.40 each. The price is a 2.3% discount to the 5-day volume weighted average price (VWAP) of $0.41 on 9 October 2026.
The issue is conditional on shareholder approval under Listing Rule 7.1 at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 4 November 2026. The company does not currently have placement capacity under Listing Rules 7.1 and 7.1A, and investor commitments are conditional on that approval. If approval is not obtained, the New Shares will not be issued.
Largest shareholder Kinterra Capital is participating, lifting its relevant interest to 22.99%, alongside existing and new institutional investors, including significant North American demand. In short, the raise is priced close to market, and the existing drilling and studies program remains fully funded.

Where the $20M goes
Use of funds
The company’s current funded drilling and studies program continues as planned. The placement proceeds are intended to fund additional work beyond that program, so you are looking at an acceleration of the pathway to a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS), not a rescue of existing plans.
| Use of funds | Description | A$m |
|---|---|---|
| Drilling | Deeper copper targets and the Northern EM target; expanded infill drilling to optimise Indicated material and upgrade some Mineral Resources to the Measured category | 7.2 |
| Engineering | Detailed site investigations and engineering works (process plant, TSF, geotechnical, borefield establishment) | 4.0 |
| Metallurgical work | Larger samples and flotation testing to support the DFS | 1.0 |
| Permitting and early site works | Mining Lease application, associated approvals and early site works | 5.0 |
| Working capital | Support for the expanded program, and costs of the Placement | 2.8 |
| Total | 20.0 |
The company describes this as a statement of current intentions that may change depending on exploration and study results, regulatory outcomes and other factors.
Drill rigs and timing
The company expects the expanded program to stay on track through additional rigs:
- A third drill rig is expected to commence drilling in early November 2026.
- The company expects to secure a fourth rig by December.
- The expanded program is planned for completion in Q4 FY2027.
- The program had envisaged the third rig being available in August.
The extra rigs are intended to mitigate potential wet season impacts. Drilling will test the deeper copper and Northern electromagnetic (EM) targets, with the intention of growing the Indicated Mineral Resource and upgrading portions to the Measured category.
Why drilling and permitting matter for DFS
What a DFS and Measured resources mean
A Definitive Feasibility Study is the detailed engineering and economic study that a project typically completes before a final investment decision (FID), the point at which owners commit capital to build.
Mineral Resources are graded by confidence. Indicated resources are known with reasonable confidence, while Measured is the highest confidence category. Upgrading portions to Measured supports the DFS because it gives the study firmer data to work from.
A Mining Lease application is a critical-path item because the project cannot move to development without that approval. That is why the company has brought this work forward.
Investment case
The Maronan Project is described by the company as one of Australia’s largest and highest-grade undeveloped silver deposits. Managing Director Richard Carlton pointed to the Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) released in September 2025, which demonstrated attractive economics on a small Starter Zone. He also noted that silver and copper prices have since increased significantly.
Richard Carlton, Managing Director
“Bringing that work forward is expected to shorten the path to key project decisions.”

Funding runway, Kinterra tranches and next steps
Using the published cash balance of $33.4M at 30 June 2026 plus the $20.0M raise before costs, pro forma cash is approximately $53.4 million. That figure is as at 30 June 2026, so it is not a current cash balance.
Incoming CEO and Managing Director Andrew Graham commences on 23 November 2026.
Kinterra will subscribe in two tranches, in reliance on the exception to section 606 of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) set out in item 9 of section 611: 7,264,685 New Shares under tranche 1 and 13,658,401 New Shares under tranche 2.
The sequence of events runs as follows:
- Placement announced and Appendix 3B lodged on 13 October 2026.
- Supplementary notice of meeting and replacement proxy form dispatched.
- Proxy cut-off, then the AGM.
- Settlement and issue of New Shares (other than Kinterra’s second tranche).
- Settlement and issue of Kinterra’s second tranche.
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Announcement of Placement and lodgement of Appendix 3B | Tuesday 13 October 2026 |
| Dispatch of supplementary notice of meeting and replacement proxy form | No later than week commencing Monday 19 October 2026 |
| Proxy cut-off | 11:00am, Monday 2 November 2026 |
| AGM | 11:00am, Wednesday 4 November 2026 |
| Settlement of New Shares (other than Kinterra’s second tranche) (if approved) | Monday 9 November 2026 |
| Issue of New Shares (other than Kinterra’s second tranche), lodgement of Appendix 2A and cleansing notice (if approved) | Tuesday 10 November 2026 |
| Settlement of Kinterra’s second tranche of New Shares | Monday 30 November 2026 |
| Issue of Kinterra’s second tranche of New Shares, lodgement of Appendix 2A and cleansing notice | Tuesday 1 December 2026 |
The timetable is indicative only and subject to change, with all times in Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT). Taylor Collison Limited acted as Lead Manager, and the New Shares will rank equally with existing shares.
For investors, the key test is the 4 November 2026 vote. Without approval, the New Shares will not be issued and the expanded work would not be funded by this placement.
