OD6 Metals Uncovers 6.31g/t Gold at Quinn Opening Second Value Stream With Fluorspar
OD6 Metals (ASX: OD6) has reported high-grade gold results from the Quinn Fluorspar Project in Nevada, with rock and channel sampling returning assays of up to 6.31 g/t Au, 2.74 g/t Au, 2.23 g/t Au and 1.61 g/t Au. Notably, the gold was identified during exploration primarily aimed at fluorspar, not from a dedicated modern gold programme — making the OD6 Metals Quinn gold and fluorspar discovery in Nevada all the more significant.
The announcement matters because it broadens the Quinn investment case beyond fluorspar. OD6 remains focused on advancing high-grade fluorspar targets at Mammoth, Horseshoe and Big Jim, but the new gold results suggest the project may also host epithermal and Carlin-style gold targets within a large mineral system in one of the best-known mining regions in the United States.
Gold anomalism has now been identified across several parts of the Quinn Project, including Mammoth, North Horseshoe Canyon and Dress Circle. OD6 stated that these zones sit close to known fluorspar occurrences but appear, at least from current surface work, to be spatially separate from the main fluorspar breccia zones.
That separation is important for investors. It suggests the gold potential may add value without reducing the quality of the existing fluorspar opportunity, which remains the company's principal focus.
The strongest gold assays came from the Mammoth area, specifically from outcrop in the footwall west of the main Mammoth Fluorspar breccia. OD6 said the gold appears associated with a stockwork vein system and defines an anomalous area of at least 50 metres by 50 metres, still open to the south, north and west.
The top reported samples are summarised below:

Soil sampling at Mammoth also returned up to 30 ppb Au. A separate area farther west recorded soil gold up to 24 ppb Au, with elevated arsenic at 66 ppm and mercury at 0.51 ppm directly beneath a quartz-rich silica zone.
For a surface programme that was not originally targeting gold, these are material early indicators. They do not confirm an economic deposit, but they do support further target generation ahead of drilling.
North of Mammoth, OD6 outlined a second gold target area at North Horseshoe Canyon. Soil sampling returned five samples above 20 ppb Au, with a peak value of 44 ppb Au.
The soil anomaly is coincident with elevated pathfinder elements, including arsenic up to 111 ppm and mercury up to 0.91 ppm. OD6 explained that these elements are commonly associated with both epithermal gold systems and Carlin-style gold systems.
The company also highlighted the Lithocap area between North Horseshoe and Big Jim. A lithocap is a strongly altered, silica-rich cap rock that can sit above a mineralised hydrothermal system. Although this zone was not directly anomalous in surface gold, OD6 considers it prospective because the broader element pattern may point to mineralisation at depth.
The Dress Circle area, located south of Horseshoe, returned one of the broadest surface anomalies in the update. Two ridge-and-spur soil lines defined an anomaly around 400 metres by 150 metres, with soil gold above 20 ppb Au and a peak result of 77 ppb Au.
The arsenic values at Dress Circle were particularly elevated, ranging from 500 ppm to 1,650 ppm, with mercury up to 0.37 ppm. The announcement also referred to a historic skarn-related gold-silver occurrence in the area from USGS/MRDS data, while aerial imagery shows circular to arcuate structures that could be linked to an intrusion at depth or an epithermal collapse feature.
For investors, Dress Circle stands out because width can matter as much as grade in early geochemical programmes. A broad anomaly can indicate a larger mineralised system, although drilling is required to test whether surface geochemistry translates into subsurface mineralisation.
"These results continue to reinforce our belief that Quinn represents a genuinely large and highly fertile mineral system which continues to exceed expectations," said Brett Hazelden, Managing Director.
"While our primary objective remains developing what we believe could become one of the United States' most significant fluorspar projects, the identification of high-grade gold in one of the world's premier, yet substantially underexplored, gold provinces adds a compelling new dimension. Importantly, the gold mineralisation appears separate from the fluorspar, preserving the quality of the fluorspar deposits while opening another avenue for value creation."
The announcement frames Quinn as prospective for two recognised Nevada gold target styles: epithermal and Carlin-style systems. For non-specialist investors, that matters because these are among the most productive gold deposit styles in the state.
An epithermal gold system forms relatively close to the surface when hot, mineral-rich fluids move upward through faults and fractures. As the fluids cool, they can deposit gold, silver and associated minerals in veins, breccias and altered rock.
OD6 reported that Quinn lies on the northern margin of the Walker Lane regional trend, a major belt in Nevada and California known for epithermal gold mineralisation. Furthermore, the company pointed to a project-wide alteration footprint of more than 8 kilometres linked to Tertiary volcanism and intrusions.
In practical terms, epithermal indicators at Quinn include:
A Carlin-style gold system is a type of sediment-hosted gold deposit typically found in carbonate rocks such as limestone and dolomite. Gold in these systems is often extremely fine grained, meaning it is not always visible in hand sample.
According to the announcement, Quinn has several geological features that may be relevant to this style of mineralisation:
This does not mean Quinn is equivalent to the Carlin Trend or Battle Mountain-Eureka Trend. However, what it does mean is that the geological model being tested has recognised Nevada analogues, which can help guide targeting.
It is worth noting that pathfinder elements are chemical indicators that may occur around gold mineralisation. At Quinn, OD6 highlighted arsenic, mercury, thallium, antimony, tellurium, molybdenum and selenium. These elements can help geologists rank exploration targets, especially where gold itself is harder to detect at surface.
The announcement drew comparisons with several large Nevada gold districts, including Beatty/North Bullfrog, Round Mountain, the Carlin Trend, the Battle Mountain-Eureka Trend and the Alligator Ridge Trend. These comparisons were geological, not economic, and were used to explain why the Quinn setting is considered prospective.
Two examples stand out. The historic Daisy Fluorspar Mine sits near AngloGold Ashanti's Beatty district, and fluorspar occurrences are also reported near Round Mountain, a large epithermal gold deposit. In OD6's interpretation, this association between fluorspar and gold can reflect a highly evolved hydrothermal system driven by magmatic heat.
For investors, the main point is not that Quinn matches these districts in size or grade. Rather, the point is that the company has identified geological features seen in other productive Nevada systems, which strengthens the rationale for drill testing.
Despite the attention on gold, the announcement is clear that fluorspar remains the principal commodity at Quinn. OD6 said the project hosts very high-grade fluorspar mineralisation greater than 40% CaF₂ at Mammoth and Horseshoe, with historic rock chip results elsewhere in the district up to 98.6% CaF₂.
Quinn covers 226 mining claims across 4,670 acres in Nevada. According to the company, preliminary work has shown Mammoth, Horseshoe and Big Jim to be potentially significant deposits of fluorspar.
The broader market context also remains relevant. The United States is currently 100% reliant on imported fluorspar, while more than 60% of global supply comes from China. Fluorspar is used in hydrofluoric acid production, AI semiconductor manufacturing, battery technologies, uranium enrichment, defence systems and refrigerants.
That gives OD6 two overlapping themes at Quinn:
This combination may widen investor interest, provided future work continues to support both parts of the thesis.
OD6 outlined a structured next phase for the project. Planned activities include:
This sequence matters because it shows the gold work is being incorporated into the existing Quinn exploration workflow rather than replacing the fluorspar programme. That could allow OD6 to assess the additional gold potential without losing momentum on its main development pathway.
The latest update on the OD6 Metals Quinn gold and fluorspar discovery in Nevada changes the scope of the story considerably. OD6 acquired the project for its fluorspar potential, but the newly reported gold assays and soil anomalies suggest the project may host a broader mineral system with multiple target styles.
From an investor perspective, several points stand out:
The current data remains early-stage. No drilling has yet been completed at Quinn, and the results reported are based on rock, channel and soil sampling. Even so, the announcement indicates that Quinn is progressing as more than a single-commodity exploration project.
If follow-up work and drilling support the surface results, OD6 may be able to build a more diversified exploration case at Quinn while retaining fluorspar as the primary development focus. For ASX investors seeking Nevada exposure, the OD6 Metals Quinn gold and fluorspar discovery in Nevada is likely to remain a key point of interest over the coming field seasons.
