Unity Metals (ASX: UM1) has announced a material exploration breakthrough at its O’Phlay Gold Project in Cambodia, following the integration of drill core magnetic susceptibility and vein orientation data with UAV airborne magnetics data. The analysis has confirmed that the Camp Prospect discovery — which returned intersections of 70.4m @ 1.1 g/t gold and 40m @ 1.9 g/t gold — trends NE-ENE and is directly associated with a demagnetised zone within a major magnetic anomaly, unlocking a scalable targeting model across the project.
The Camp discovery zone currently extends from surface to at least 230m depth, with a true width of approximately 45–50m, steeply dipping to the southeast and remaining open at depth and along strike. The structural model derived from this data integration now underpins a 20-hole drill programme across multiple prospects, with drilling expected to commence early Q4 2026.

The science behind the breakthrough
Magnetic susceptibility measures how strongly a rock responds to a magnetic field. In the context of gold exploration, a drop in this reading inside a broader magnetic high anomaly is a meaningful signal: it tells geologists that hydrothermal fluids have passed through the rock, destroying the magnetite that creates the magnetic response, and often depositing gold in the process.
That is precisely what Unity’s data has revealed at O’Phlay. Altered and mineralised diorite core from the Camp Prospect averages 0.67 x 10⁻³ SI units in magnetic susceptibility, compared to 26 x 10⁻³ SI units in the surrounding unaltered diorite — approximately 40 times lower. The agent of this change is chlorite-sericite hydrothermal alteration, which destroys magnetite in the host diorite intrusion and creates the low magnetic signature associated with gold-bearing stockwork vein emplacement.
Vein orientation readings from the drill core confirm that dominant gold-bearing veins strike NE-ENE, between 050° and 070°. Critically, further analysis of the 50m line-spaced UAV magnetic data has now identified more than 6km of prospective NE-ENE trending magnetic anomalies extending across the northern portion of a major diorite intrusion at O’Phlay. Each of these anomalies contains potential demagnetised zones — and each demagnetised zone is a candidate target for further stockwork gold mineralisation.
This gives Unity a repeatable, scalable targeting method. Rather than drilling blind, the company can now identify priority zones across the full 6km+ of strike using the same magnetic signature that led to the Camp discovery. Figure 1 (UAV magnetics image, 1st VD Tilt 600) shows the stacked NE-ENE trending magnetic anomalies across the top of the diorite intrusion, with gold-in-soil results and prospect locations overlaid — the visual anchor for the entire targeting model.

The data breakthrough has translated directly into drill targets. Three prospects — Toulsroloav, Small Creek, and Camp extensions plus additional demagnetised zone targets — are now drill-ready, each supported by historical workings, geochemical anomalism, and interpreted demagnetised zones.

Located approximately 800m WNW of the Camp Prospect, Toulsroloav hosts the largest historical open pits at O’Phlay. The open workings sit directly above an interpreted ENE-trending demagnetised zone within a sizeable magnetic high anomaly, consistent with the structural model confirmed at Camp. Previous sampling by Unity returned strong arsenic-in-soil anomalism and rock chip gold results up to 28.5 g/t and 21.1 g/t gold. Unity has planned 5 drill holes to test this prospect.
Small Creek — highest-grade results at the project
Small Creek sits 1.8km SW of Camp and hosts the only underground workings at O’Phlay, alongside several historical open pits. The underground mining was focused on a series of high-grade, arsenopyrite-rich gold veins, and Unity’s rock chip sampling has returned results up to 37.1 g/t, 27.5 g/t, and 24.3 g/t gold — the highest results obtained across the entire project to date. Distinct NE-ENE trending demagnetised zones are clearly associated with these historical workings. Unity’s planned 5 drill holes will target both the high-grade veins and the surrounding stockwork mineralisation.
Camp extensions and additional demagnetised zone targets
A further 10 holes are planned in and around Camp, covering extensions to the existing stockwork discovery as well as additional magnetic and geochemical targets. Of particular note is a separate NE-trending demagnetised zone located approximately 200m SSW of the Camp stockwork zone, extending for approximately 300m and associated with highly anomalous gold-in-soil results of up to 380 ppb gold. Unity has planned 2 drill holes to test this area specifically. Infill soil sampling and trenching across demagnetised zones are also planned.

Whether multiple independent centres of stockwork gold mineralisation exist across Toulsroloav, Small Creek, and the additional demagnetised zones is precisely what the 20-hole programme will test. The results will go a long way toward determining whether O’Phlay is a single-prospect find or something considerably larger.
