First commercial ecosparc® delivery signals graphene commercialisation has arrived
Sparc Technologies (ASX: SPN) has despatched its first commercial shipment of ecosparc® graphene additive to a Tier 1 global coatings manufacturer, fulfilling a 160kg order from its production facility in Adelaide, South Australia. The delivery follows two commercial product launches since May 2026 (announced 30 April 2026 and 9 June 2026) and marks a concrete shift from research, development, and field trials into live commercial sales.

What ecosparc® is and why it matters for protective coatings
Graphene additives explained
ecosparc® is a graphene-based additive that, at low dosages, significantly improves the performance of epoxy-based protective coatings, particularly in anti-corrosion applications. Sparc describes its performance data in this application as industry-leading.
The Tier 1 significance
The customer is a global coatings manufacturer. AkzoNobel, one of the world’s largest coatings companies, is among the two manufacturers that have already launched ecosparc®-enhanced products since May 2026.
The commercial model to watch here is not just first deliveries. It is repeat sales and pipeline conversion as additional testing programs graduate into product launches.
Current commercial footprint at a glance:
- First commercial delivery despatched: September 2026
- Two ecosparc®-enhanced coating products launched since May 2026
- Coatings partners include AkzoNobel and Petro Vietnam Paints
- More than 20 active testing programs underway
- Multiple new commercial product launches targeted over the next 6–12 months
Production capacity and pipeline: the investment case in numbers
No capex required for ramp-up
Current production capacity at Sparc’s Adelaide facility is sufficient to dose approximately 4.5 million litres of protective coatings per annum. Critically, the company states that this capacity supports commercialisation ramp-up without the need for additional capital expenditure. For investors, that is a meaningful signal on operating leverage: volume can grow without a corresponding capital call on the balance sheet.
A 20+ program pipeline converting to revenue
Sparc is progressing more than 20 active testing programs, with multiple additional commercial product launches targeted over the next 6–12 months. The pipeline is also expanding beyond core protective coatings into new market segments.
The newly launched SparcES™ range targets electrostatic and conductive coatings used in data centres, semiconductor manufacturing, and other advanced industrial applications. In parallel, Sparc has recently commenced a collaborative testing program in powder coatings, adding another large market segment where its additives may be adopted. The company describes build-out of addressable markets in additional coatings segments as a key focus of its ongoing R&D programme.
Managing Director Nick O’Loughlin framed the milestone and the path forward:
Nick O’Loughlin, Managing Director
“The first commercial delivery of ecosparc® for use by a Tier 1 coatings customer marks a significant milestone for Sparc following several years of research, development and field trials. We believe Sparc has generated industry-leading performance data for graphene in anti-corrosion coatings, and this first delivery for a Tier 1 is a testament to that work. With commercial sales underway and two coatings manufacturers, including AkzoNobel, having launched ecosparc® enhanced products since May 2026, Sparc has established a strong platform to become a leading graphene additive supplier to the coatings industry. With more than 20 active testing programs and multiple new commercial products targeted over the next 6–12 months, our clear focus is now on converting this pipeline into a growing base of customers, products and repeat sales.”
