Recharge Metals Launches $4.1M Placement to Fund First Drilling at Sunset Well
Key Takeaways
- Recharge Metals has secured firm commitments for a $4.1 million placement of 114,722,222 shares at $0.036, lifting pro-forma cash to roughly $8 million.
- The shares were priced at about a 2.5% discount to the 10-day VWAP before the 13 October 2026 trading halt, a tight gap for a placement.
- A 30,000m inaugural drilling program at Sunset Well is planned to start in October 2026, targeting a trend undrilled since the 1990s.
- The Prospero Deposit holds an Inferred resource of 2.87Mt at 1.0g/t Au for 94.5koz and remains open, with only three holes deeper than 100m.
- Funds also back tungsten re-assays, metallurgical test work and aircore drilling at Brandy Hill South, with new shares due to begin trading on 22 October 2026.
Recharge Metals Receives Firm Commitments for $4.1 Million Placement to Accelerate Exploration
Recharge Metals (ASX: REC) has received firm commitments to raise $4.1 million (before costs) through a placement of 114,722,222 new fully paid ordinary shares at $0.036 per share. Backing comes from existing shareholders, select new sophisticated investors and long-only institutional investors.
The placement comes ahead of the planned October 2026 start of the company’s inaugural 30,000m drilling program at the Sunset Well Gold Project. Recharge’s pro-forma cash balance is now approximately $8 million.
That matters because exploration companies spend cash on drilling before they earn any revenue. A larger balance sheet gives the planned drilling program more funding behind it.
Samuel Ekins, Executive Technical Director
“…Sunset Well has not been drilled for 30 years and boasts a 15km trend that is replete with RAB drill gold anomalies extending north along strike from the inferred 94.5Koz Prospero Gold Deposit. Prospero is open, and remarkably, has only three holes that are deeper than 100m…”
Placement terms at a glance
The key terms are set out below.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Raise | $4.1m before costs |
| Issue price | $0.036 |
| Discount | Approx. 2.5% to the 10-day VWAP prior to the 13 October 2026 trading halt |
| Shares | 114,722,222 New Shares |
| Capacity | ASX Listing Rule 7.1 |
VWAP stands for volume weighted average price, an average share price weighted by how much stock traded at each price. A discount of roughly 2.5% to that average is a fairly tight pricing gap for a placement.
Once issued, the New Shares will rank equally with the company’s existing fully paid ordinary shares. Canaccord Genuity (Australia) Limited and Ord Minnett Limited acted as Joint Lead Managers, and the lead managers and brokers are able to earn up to a 5% commission on the proceeds.

Where the Funds Go: Sunset Well and Brandy Hill South
The proceeds are earmarked for two projects, with Sunset Well taking most of the attention.
Sunset Well Gold Project, Leonora WA
Recharge plans to use the funds for the following:
- Progressing the 94.5koz Prospero Deposit and Greater Prospero Trend.
- Permitting, heritage surveying and drilling at the recently acquired Ironstone Well area, at the northern end of the Prospero Trend.
The company also plans to use the funds for the following at Brandy Hill South:
- Tungsten re-assays and the start of metallurgical test work.
- Aircore drilling.
Across the projects, the funds will also support continued generation of early-stage exploration targets.
Prospero carries an Inferred Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 2.87Mt at 1.0g/t Au for 94.5koz, using a 0.5g/t Au cut-off grade, as detailed in the 20 February 2026 announcement. The cut-off grade is the minimum gold grade included in the estimate.
The Prospero Trend and the Ironstone Well area have both been undrilled since the 1990s. For you as an investor, the drilling program offers a first modern look at a large, open trend, although results are not yet known.
Brandy Hill South Copper-Tungsten Project, near Geraldton WA
Recharge describes Brandy Hill South as a potentially significant mineral system. The project was the subject of the 8 September 2026 announcement “Significant Tungsten Assays at Brandy Hill South”.
Funds will support tungsten re-assays, the start of metallurgical test work and aircore drilling there.
What Is Exploration Drilling, and Why Does It Matter to Investors?
Exploration drilling tests whether gold anomalies at surface continue underground. Drill holes return samples that are assayed, and enough results can support a resource estimate: a figure for how much metal a deposit may hold.
“Inferred” is a classification used for resources. It generally reflects a lower level of geological confidence than higher categories, which is why further drilling matters.
Prospero is described by the company as open, with only three holes deeper than 100m. Deeper drilling could therefore add to the resource, though nothing in the announcement guarantees that outcome.
Exploration is typically funded by raising equity, as this placement shows. Drilling results then tend to drive sentiment and the share price, in either direction.
