PLC Resources Reports Encouraging Rochefort Drill Results and 8km Gold Corridor
Early stage Rochefort geochemistry and new regional gold corridor advance Abbotts North discovery potential
PLC Resources has reported encouraging results from maiden reconnaissance RC drilling at the Rochefort Gold Prospect within its Abbotts North Gold Project, with anomalous gold geochemistry and alteration signatures pointing toward a potential mineralised system to the north-west. In parallel, a newly completed high-resolution airborne survey has identified an entirely untested regional gold target corridor along a large syncline structure on the eastern margin of the Abbotts Greenstone Belt.
The company has outlined two distinct discovery pathways: near-term follow-up drilling at Rochefort under existing approvals, and a broader regional exploration pipeline targeting the structural corridor along strike from several New Murchison Gold (ASX: NMG) prospects and the Crown Prince deposit.

What the Rochefort geochemistry is telling investors
The maiden five-hole, 1,020m RC program at Rochefort returned anomalous gold up to 0.4 g/t Au, with three of five holes intersecting highly fractionated dolerites alongside gold anomalism, albite alteration, sulphidation, and pathfinder element trends.
While no significant high-grade intersections were reported, the geochemical vectoring signals are considered supportive of proximity to a gold mineralising system. The company interprets the data to suggest drilling may have tested the edge of a more material system located to the north-west and at depth.
The four geochemical signals
Four key indicators emerged from the drill program:
-
Prospective host rock confirmed: Drilling intersected highly fractionated dolerites, the same geological setting associated with several significant Yilgarn gold deposits elsewhere in the Eastern Goldfields.
-
Alteration and sulphidation gradient: A systematic increase in sodic (albite) alteration, coupled with magnesium depletion and weak but consistent sulphide development (interpreted as pyrrhotite), was identified in the northern portion of the drill pattern.
-
Pathfinder vectoring: Sulphur increases alongside gold, while arsenic and antimony decrease. This trend is consistent with proximity to a gold source rather than a distal signature.
-
Spatial trend strengthening to the north-west: Gold values, alteration intensity, and pathfinder anomalism all strengthen systematically toward the north-west of the drill pattern and at depth, particularly within the most fractionated portion of the dolerite sequence.
These vectors do not represent an ore body, but they provide a credible exploration model to justify follow-up drilling under existing heritage and environmental approvals. Additional multi-element assays are pending to further refine targeting.
Understanding fractionated dolerites and pathfinder elements
For investors less familiar with gold exploration geochemistry, two concepts are central to the Rochefort interpretation.
Fractionated dolerites are intrusive igneous rocks that have undergone chemical differentiation during cooling. In the Yilgarn Craton, these rocks are recognised as favourable hosts for orogenic gold deposits because they can act as structural traps and geochemical reactors for gold-bearing fluids. Many significant Yilgarn gold deposits occur in or near fractionated dolerite units.
Pathfinder elements are geochemical indicators that typically occur alongside gold mineralisation in hydrothermal systems. By analysing the distribution and ratios of elements like sulphur, arsenic, antimony, and bismuth, geologists can infer whether drill holes are testing proximal (close to) or distal (far from) gold mineralisation. At Rochefort, the pathfinder signature suggests the drilling was proximal to a potential system, not peripheral to it.
This is precisely why the company considers the Rochefort target worth drilling again: the geochemistry follows a recognised, credible exploration model.
A large-scale regional gold corridor emerges
Independently of the Rochefort results, the company’s high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey has fundamentally altered its understanding of the Abbotts Greenstone Belt.
The survey revealed a major fold structure along the belt’s eastern margin that was entirely absent from existing Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) regional geological mapping. Further interpretation has since refined this structure as a syncline, changing the targeting methodology for regional exploration.
The syncline is expressed clearly in magnetic data across over 8 km of strike on its eastern limb and over 6 km on its western limb, entirely within PLC tenure. The hinge of this structure intersects an interpreted deep-seated east-west crustal feature associated with a younger Proterozoic dyke—a structural setting recognised across the Yilgarn Craton as a first-order control on high-grade orogenic gold mineralisation.
This structural corridor lies along strike from several New Murchison Gold prospects (Youngs, Lydia) and the Crown Prince deposit (2.2 Mt @ 3.3 g/t Au, 228,400 oz Au). The corridor also passes through PLC’s Triple Junction Prospect, where a single high-grade rock chip sample previously returned 6.7 g/t Au.
A second, cross-cutting structural corridor has been identified extending west into New Murchison Gold tenure where the Abbotts and Verizon deposits are located. This corridor intersects the northern portion of the syncline, including the fold hinge.
Executive Director Simon Phillips
“PLC is fully funded to drill this target as well as our newly discovered regional syncline fold structure to the south, along strike from several New Murchison prospects, including the Crown Prince deposit. For shareholders, that gives Abbotts North clear opportunities for discovery: near-term follow-up drilling at Rochefort, and a growing pipeline of regional targets to test as our interpretation matures. We have a clear and exciting path forward.”
Proximate Statement: Where this release contains references to mineral exploration results derived by other parties either nearby or proximate to the Abbotts North Project, it is important to note that such discoveries or geological similarities do not in any way guarantee that PLC will have similar exploration successes on the Abbotts North Project, if at all.
The company interprets that the syncline structure has been intruded by fractionated dolerites analogous to those encountered at Rochefort, adding further weight to the regional exploration potential.

What’s next: two funded programs and near-term catalysts
PLC has outlined a clear pathway forward across both near-term and longer-term exploration fronts. Importantly, the company is fully funded for both programs, and Rochefort follow-up drilling can proceed immediately under existing heritage and environmental approvals.
The following milestones are now in motion:
-
Complete outstanding multi-element geochemical analysis of remaining Rochefort drill samples to further refine vectoring toward the interpreted mineralised system to the north-west and at depth.
-
Mobilise an RC drill rig for follow-up drilling at Rochefort, targeting the strengthening alteration, sulphidation and pathfinder trend identified to the north-west of current drilling.
-
Complete detailed interpretation of the airborne survey data, incorporating the revised syncline model and newly identified cross-cutting structural corridor, to refine drill targeting across the regional corridor.
-
Advance the company’s regional aircore drilling program. Programs of Work approvals have been received, with planning underway to test priority targets along the structural corridor.
-
Undertake on-ground geological reconnaissance and mapping to guide target prioritisation and confirm the suitability of soil sampling versus direct aircore testing across the corridor.
The combination of a drill-ready near-term target at Rochefort and a large-scale structural corridor with multiple analogous targets across the Abbotts North Project provides investors with dual discovery exposure. The funded position removes near-term financing overhang risk, and multiple news catalysts are anticipated across the coming months as follow-up programs advance.
