What the geology is telling EMU
As 26YVRD012 has progressed to approximately 735 metres, the geology encountered has shifted from relatively homogeneous granodiorite into a more complex intrusive and hydrothermal environment. The hole has returned multiple intrusive phases, aplite and pegmatitic phases, hydrothermal alteration, quartz veining, and localised zones of increased vein and shear development.
These observations are consistent with EMU’s pre-existing interpretation of the Yataga system. The hole was specifically designed to test a priority target where copper geochemistry, major structures, a magnetic low, and an IP chargeability response converge beneath the central Valley (see Fig 1, 26YVRD012 coordinates: 774905mE, 8004510mN).
Importantly, observations from 26YVRD012 are not being interpreted in isolation. The data is being integrated with the broader RC drilling programme, detailed surface mapping, LiDAR topography imagery, and geophysical datasets to progressively refine EMU’s three-dimensional understanding of the Yataga intrusive system.

Understanding copper porphyry systems — why geological complexity matters
Copper porphyry systems are large-scale mineralised bodies formed when magma intrudes into the Earth’s upper crust, releasing hot, mineral-rich fluids that alter surrounding rock and deposit copper along fractures and veins. The geological features EMU is encountering — multiple intrusive phases, hydrothermal alteration, and quartz veining — are precisely the hallmarks geologists look for when assessing whether a system has the right conditions to host copper mineralisation.
Two geophysical tools are guiding EMU’s targeting beneath the surface. An IP (Induced Polarisation) chargeability anomaly identifies zones where mineralised or altered material traps electrical charge — a common signature of sulphide minerals associated with copper systems. A magnetic low, by contrast, can indicate where hydrothermal alteration has destroyed magnetic minerals in the host rock, another feature commonly associated with porphyry-style mineralisation.
