Dreadnought Maps 40km of Gold Corridors Across 90% Untested Yilgarn Ground
Dreadnought expands gold footprint across underexplored Yilgarn greenstone belt
Dreadnought Resources has announced results from its first-pass, wide-spaced air core drilling programme at the 100%-owned Illaara Gold Project, located approximately 190 km northwest of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia’s Yilgarn region. The company has now identified 12 distinct gold mineralised corridors ranging from approximately 1.5 km to over 7 km in strike length, with the total mineralised corridor strike now approaching 40 km. Critically, this result comes from testing only around 10% of the greenstone belt, leaving substantial untested ground across the ~800 km² project area covering roughly 70 km of greenstone belt strike.
The programme comprised approximately 500 holes (~35,000m), with 380 holes assayed to date. Drilling has successfully identified strong orogenic gold pathfinder geochemistry including silver, arsenic, molybdenum, antimony, tellurium, and tungsten (Ag-As-Mo-Sb-Te-W), demonstrating genuine gold system signatures across multiple structures. These results validate the company’s systematic exploration approach and highlight the scale of the emerging opportunity within one of the Yilgarn’s most underexplored greenstone belts.

What is air core drilling and why does it matter for gold exploration?
Air core drilling is a fast, low-cost method used to drill through weathered soil and rock (regolith) that covers most of the Yilgarn Craton. The technique allows explorers to sample fresher rock beneath the cover to determine regolith depth, understand the underlying geology, and detect low-level gold anomalies, alteration, and pathfinder geochemistry that could indicate a gold system at depth.
This is the first step in a systematic exploration process. Wide-spaced drilling at 800m x 200m intervals identifies corridors worth chasing, then infill drilling at 400m x 100m narrows targets for more powerful reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling. Air core drilling has played a key role in major Yilgarn discoveries including Hemi, Gruyere, Tropicana, and Garden Well, making it an essential tool in the search for large-scale gold deposits.
For investors, air core represents the “search grid” phase. It rapidly de-risks large areas and identifies where to concentrate capital-intensive deeper drilling, maximising the probability of discovery while minimising expenditure.
Black Oak extends to over 7 km with shallow, near-surface gold
Black Oak has emerged as the standout corridor, now extending to over 7 km in strike length. Drilling has returned the key intercept of 21m @ 0.3 g/t Au from surface in hole ILAC0139, including 3m @ 1.1 g/t Au from 3m and 9m @ 0.5 g/t Au from 33m, including 3m @ 1.4 g/t Au from 36m. Mineralisation is shallow, starting from surface in some locations, and is accompanied by strong orogenic gold pathfinder anomalism including arsenic, antimony, silver, molybdenum, tellurium, and tungsten, with or without bismuth (As-Sb-Ag-Mo-Te-W +/- Bi).
The shallow nature of the mineralisation and the presence of robust pathfinder geochemistry support the interpretation that Black Oak represents a genuine gold system with potential for both open-pit and deeper drilling scenarios. Follow-up infill drilling is scheduled to commence in August 2026.
Dean Tuck, Managing Director
“Having tested only around 10% of the Illaara greenstone belt, we have already identified almost 40 km of prospective mineralised corridors. In the process, we have narrowed our focus from the nearly 60 km² of greenstone belt that was drilled down to just 5-10 km² of priority ground for follow-up infill drilling.”
CRA-Homestead and additional corridors add scale
The CRA-Homestead corridor now covers 2 km in strike with intercepts including 30m @ 0.2 g/t Au from 90m. Wide-spaced drilling at 800m x 200m intervals has identified 10 additional anomalous mineralised corridors beyond Black Oak and CRA-Homestead, all with strong orogenic gold pathfinders. These corridors collectively add significant scale to the Illaara project and demonstrate that gold mineralisation is not isolated but distributed across multiple structures within the greenstone belt.
Results for wide-spaced drilling south of CRA-Homestead are expected in August 2026, at which time additional infill drilling of priority prospects and further first-pass drilling in new areas will commence. The systematic approach of testing, narrowing, and then advancing targets is designed to maximise discovery potential whilst managing capital allocation efficiently.
Why Illaara remains one of the Yilgarn’s most underexplored greenstone belts
Illaara is one of the most underexplored greenstone belts in the Yilgarn Craton. Previously held for its iron ore potential rather than gold, the belt has never had systematic gold exploration until now. The 2026 programme marks the first ever systematic air core drilling campaign undertaken across the belt, a programme that previous owner Newmont wanted to undertake prior to Dreadnought acquiring the project in 2019 and subsequently consolidating the remainder of the greenstone belt.
The project is well positioned in relation to existing infrastructure. Mills at Davyhurst (operated by Ora Banda Mining) and Bottle Creek (operated by Aurenne) provide potential toll treatment options, whilst road and rail infrastructure from historical iron ore operations remain in place. The combination of underexplored ground in a proven gold province, along with accessible infrastructure, represents asymmetric discovery potential. The belt has the right geological ingredients; it has simply never been properly tested for gold.
Existing high-grade resource at Metzke’s Find provides foundation
Dreadnought delivered an updated Mineral Resource at Metzke’s Find on 23 June 2026, comprising 24,900 oz @ 5.2 g/t Au. Mineralisation remains open along strike and at depth, providing a strong foundation for the project. The company has outlined a self-funded explorer strategy, outsourcing funding, development, haulage, and processing to third parties to reduce reliance on market funding and direct internal cashflows towards discovery drilling.
| Classification | Tonnes | Grade (g/t Au) | Contained Oz |
|---|---|---|---|
| Indicated | 106,800 | 6.0 | 20,800 |
| Inferred | 43,300 | 3.0 | 4,200 |
| Total | 150,100 | 5.2 | 24,900 |
This model is common in Western Australia given the robust gold price and provides a pathway to production whilst maintaining exploration momentum. For investors, this represents a potential near-term cashflow source to fund further drilling and reduce shareholder dilution.

What comes next at Illaara
Dreadnought has outlined the following milestones for the Illaara Gold Project:
- Remaining assay results from the current programme expected in August 2026
- Infill air core drilling at Black Oak and CRA-Homestead commencing August 2026
- Additional first-pass air core drilling in new areas within Illaara commencing August 2026
- Metzke’s Find study expected September/October 2026
The rapid transition from first-pass results to infill drilling indicates management is acting decisively on the emerging opportunity. The company has narrowed its focus from nearly 60 km² of greenstone belt drilled down to just 5-10 km² of priority ground for follow-up infill drilling, demonstrating disciplined capital allocation and a clear path to testing the highest-priority targets at depth.
