Branches drilling completes assay reporting, opens southern extension ahead of September quarter MRE

Nexus Minerals has reported the final tranche of assay results from RC drilling at the Branches Prospect, part of the Wallbrook Gold Project, approximately 140km northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields. The company has now fully reported 37 RC holes for 3,506m at Branches, completing resource definition drilling at the prospect.

The drilling has improved understanding of the orientation, geometry and continuity of the mineralised system, positioning Branches to support a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) within the updated multi-prospect Wallbrook MRE targeted for the September quarter. Encouragingly, the strongest result of the program came from the southern end of the prospect, where the mineralised trend remains open — leaving growth potential beyond the current resource-definition footprint.

Standout intercepts confirm a continuous high-grade system

New significant intercepts from this final tranche include:

  • 1m at 7.63g/t Au and 3m at 4.25g/t Au within 13m at 2.00g/t Au from 111m (hole NMWBRC26-941)
  • 2m at 5.90g/t Au within 15m at 1.28g/t Au from 26m
  • 7m at 2.18g/t Au within 18m at 1.06g/t Au from 60m
  • 6m at 1.17g/t Au within 12m at 0.69g/t Au from 72m

These results confirm continuity of the Branches system between previously reported high-grade intercepts (ASX: NXM 23/11/2020; 24/5/2022; 24/8/2022; 28/8/2023), which include:

  • 5m at 17.91g/t Au within 8m at 11.37g/t Au from 118m
  • 7m at 8.03g/t Au (including 2m at 16.00g/t Au) within 15m at 4.45g/t Au from 29m
  • 4m at 6.37g/t Au and 7m at 4.34g/t Au within 36m at 2.40g/t Au from 18m
  • 5m at 5.45g/t Au and 3m at 6.07g/t Au within 36m at 2.04g/t Au from 43m
  • 8m at 7.59g/t Au within 25m at 2.86g/t Au from 43m
Hole ID From (m) Interval (m) Grade (g/t Au) Within
NMWBRC26-941 111 1 7.63 13m at 2.00g/t Au from 111m
NMWBRC26-941 118 3 4.25 13m at 2.00g/t Au from 111m
NMWBRC26-950 26 2 5.90 15m at 1.28g/t Au from 26m
NMWBRC26-952 64 7 2.18 18m at 1.06g/t Au from 60m
NMWBRC26-962 74 6 1.17 12m at 0.69g/t Au from 72m

Drilling results are consistent with a coherent, continuous northwest-trending, east-dipping zone incorporating zones of higher grade and greater width. This geological continuity — repeatable higher-grade shoots within a defined structural corridor — provides the confidence needed for resource classification when integrated with the full drill database.

Southern extension leaves Branches open for future growth

The strongest result of the program (hole NMWBRC26-941: 1m at 7.63g/t Au and 3m at 4.25g/t Au within 13m at 2.00g/t Au) was returned from one of the southernmost drill holes at Branches, leaving the mineralised trend open to the south. Three shallow holes intercepted and mapped the mineralised sequence a further 350m south of this intercept, indicating the Branches corridor extends beyond the area covered by resource definition drilling.

The defined mineralised trend now extends over more than 1.5km of strike. This southern extension represents growth potential not yet captured in any MRE — a future drilling upside beyond the current resource footprint.

Andy Tudor, Managing Director

“With assay reporting now complete at Branches, the prospect is well positioned alongside Clement and Payns prospects to contribute to the updated Wallbrook Mineral Resource Estimate… Encouragingly, the strongest result of this program came from the southern end of the prospect, and the mineralised host sequence has been intercepted a further 350 metres to the south. This leaves the Branches trend open for future work.”

What a Mineral Resource Estimate means for investors

A Mineral Resource Estimate is a JORC-compliant estimate defining the tonnes and grade of potentially recoverable mineralisation. It converts drilling data into a quantifiable resource base categorised by geological confidence (Indicated and Inferred resources based on drill spacing and continuity). For an explorer like Nexus, completing assays across three prospects and integrating this data into a multi-prospect MRE represents a key value-inflection point — transforming exploration success into a defined asset base that can be assessed for economic viability.

No Ore Reserve currently exists at Wallbrook. The updated MRE targeted for September quarter completion will integrate drill data from Clement, Payns and Branches alongside existing resource-definition work at Crusader–Templar.

Wallbrook resource picture and the path to an updated MRE

Program progress to date:

  1. Total MRE RC campaign: 196 holes for 21,985m across Clement, Payns, Branches and Crusader–Templar — drilling now complete.
  2. Assays reported to date: 149 holes for 15,667m across the three priority resource-definition prospects (Clement, Payns, Branches).
  3. Final assays from Crusader–Templar extensional drilling expected in August 2026.
  4. Updated multi-prospect Wallbrook MRE targeted for completion in the September quarter 2026 (Q1 FY27), delivered by independent Competent Person Mr Jeremy Clark of Lily Valley International.

Path to the Updated Wallbrook MRE Roadmap

The existing Wallbrook MRE is currently constrained to the Crusader–Templar combined MRE of 304koz Au. The September quarter update is expected to incorporate resource contributions from Clement, Payns and Branches, with Crusader–Templar assays to follow.

Category Tonnes (kt) Grade (g/t Au) Ounces (koz)
Indicated 2,460 1.8 140
Inferred 3,210 1.6 164
Total 5,670 1.7 304

Crusader–Templar Combined MRE (0.4g/t Au cut-off)

Why the Branches result strengthens the Nexus investment case

Branches sits in a well-endowed corridor between Northern Star’s Carosue Dam and Porphyry mining operations, with Carosue Dam processing infrastructure approximately 30km away. Multiple prospects (Clement, Payns, Branches) are now de-risked for resource inclusion, with Crusader–Templar extensional results to follow.

Near-term catalysts investors can watch:

  • Crusader–Templar final assays (August 2026)
  • Updated multi-prospect Wallbrook MRE (September quarter 2026)
  • Future step-out drilling on the open southern Branches trend

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Mineral Resource Estimate and why does it matter for Nexus Minerals?

A Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) is a JORC-compliant calculation of the tonnes and grade of potentially recoverable gold mineralisation, categorised by geological confidence into Indicated and Inferred resources. For Nexus Minerals, the upcoming September quarter MRE is the first time Clement, Payns, and Branches will contribute to the official resource base, potentially significantly expanding the current 304koz Wallbrook figure.

What does it mean that the Branches mineralised trend is open to the south?

An open mineralised trend means drilling has not yet defined the boundary of the gold-bearing system in that direction — the mineralisation continues beyond the area that has been systematically drilled. At Branches, three shallow holes have already intercepted the mineralised sequence a further 350m south of the strongest drill result, indicating the corridor extends well beyond the current resource-definition footprint and represents future drilling upside.

When is the updated Wallbrook MRE expected to be released?

Nexus Minerals is targeting completion of the updated multi-prospect Wallbrook MRE in the September quarter 2026 (Q1 FY27), with final assays from Crusader–Templar extensional drilling expected in August 2026 ahead of that delivery.

How does the Branches Prospect fit into the broader Wallbrook Gold Project?

Branches is one of four prospects within the Wallbrook Gold Project, located approximately 140km northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia's Eastern Goldfields. The project's existing 304koz MRE covers only the Crusader–Templar area; the September quarter update will incorporate resource contributions from Branches alongside Clement and Payns for the first time.

What processing infrastructure is available near the Wallbrook Gold Project?

Northern Star's Carosue Dam processing facility is located approximately 30km from the Wallbrook Gold Project, providing a potential toll milling pathway that could reduce the capital requirements for any future development decision at Wallbrook.
