White Cliff Minerals Wins Vote Locking in Hancock’s $8.8M Rae Copper Backing
Key Takeaways
- Shareholders approved Hancock Prospecting's A$8,768,457 placement at $0.017 per share, giving Australia's largest private company about 13.5% of White Cliff.
- Completion is expected on or about 22 October 2026, subject only to ASX not refusing quotation of the shares.
- The money goes into Rae in Nunavut, led by a diamond rig at Danvers 1 to fast-track an Exploration Target and Maiden MRE.
- Danvers has already returned 175m at 2.5% Cu, and Danvers 3 stepped out with 20m at 6.64% Cu.
- No Maiden MRE timeline, metre count or budget split has been disclosed, so the key milestone has no date yet.
Shareholders approve Hancock Prospecting’s A$8.8M investment in White Cliff Minerals
A heavyweight name is about to join the register of a small ASX explorer. White Cliff Minerals (ASX: WCN; OTCQB: WCMLF) said shareholders approved the strategic investment by Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd (“HPPL”) at its general meeting held on 19 October 2026.
The A$8,768,457 private placement comprises 515,791,601 fully paid ordinary shares at $0.017 per share, approved under ASX Listing Rule 10.11. On completion, HPPL will hold approximately 13.5% of White Cliff.
The announcement describes HPPL as Australia’s largest private company and says its investment provides significant third-party validation for the Company’s exploration strategy. For you as an investor, a name of that profile on the register is an external endorsement of the strategy, though it does not guarantee drilling outcomes.
The funds are earmarked for the Rae Copper Project in Nunavut, Canada, which is the focus of the Hancock Prospecting investment.
Completion timing and conditions
- Completion of the placement is expected on or about 22 October 2026, being three business days after the meeting.
- Completion remains conditional on ASX not indicating that it will refuse Official Quotation of the Shares.
- An Appendix 2A will be lodged with ASX on issue of the Shares.

How the funding accelerates drilling across Rae
Proceeds from the placement, together with existing cash reserves, will be used to expand and accelerate drilling and exploration at Rae. The announcement does not disclose a drilling metre count or a budget split between targets.
It does set out four priorities:
- Danvers 1: a diamond drill rig to expand the mineralised envelope, aiming to fast-track an Exploration Target and Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE).
- Danvers 2, 3 and 4: systematic step-out drilling to establish scale, continuity and growth potential.
- Sediment-hosted copper pipeline: supported by the airborne magnetic, gravity and radiometric survey now underway across the Rae Group–Husky Creek Formation contact over a 72km strike length.
- Danvers-style regional targets: Thor, Rocket, Vision and Stark, where regional data reviews identified geophysical signatures comparable to those associated with Danvers.
The airborne survey extends to Thor and Rocket, where till sampling is also underway to identify further near-surface targets. Downhole electromagnetic and ground-based geophysical survey equipment is anticipated to be mobilised to Rae to refine and extend priority drill targets.
The Maiden MRE is the standout item on that list, because it would put a formal number on what Danvers 1 may contain. No timeline for it is disclosed. The Rae project plan (Figure 1) in the original announcement shows Danvers, Bornite Hills and other priority copper targets.

Understanding maiden resource estimates and why they matter
Explorers move through a sequence. Drilling collects rock samples, and the results show where copper occurs and at what grade. Once enough holes define the mineralisation, a company can outline an Exploration Target, which is a range of potential size and grade, before a Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate formally calculates the tonnes and grade of a deposit for the first time.
Drill density, meaning how closely holes are spaced, matters because tighter spacing gives more confidence in how continuous the mineralisation is. Danvers 1 has the project’s highest drill density to date, which is why the company is targeting it first for a maiden resource.
A first resource is often treated as a re-rating milestone for explorers because it converts drill intercepts into a defined inventory that the market can value. Whether that happens at Rae depends on what the drilling shows.
Danvers and sediment-hosted copper: the results behind the investment
The funding builds on existing results rather than announcing new ones. The table below summarises the highlights quoted in the announcement.
| Target | Result | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Danvers | 175m @ 2.5% Cu & 8.66g/t Ag; 90m @ 4% Cu & 7.5g/t Ag; 58m @ 3.08% Cu & 13.3g/t Ag | Maiden drilling campaign highlights |
| Danvers 2 | 15m @ 4.8% Cu | Regional step-out, over 5km down-strike |
| Danvers 3 | 20m @ 6.64% Cu; 23m @ 6.18% Cu | Regional step-out |
| Sediment-hosted | 3.5m @ 7.2% Cu | 2025 drilling |
On the sediment-hosted system, the company reported:
- Mineralisation extended 3.7km east of 2025-hole STK25004.
- An interpreted footprint of approximately 6.3km².
- Visible chalcopyrite at the target horizon in all three 2026 diamond holes completed.
- Drilling now vectoring toward the core of the system, targeting stronger alteration and higher-grade, bornite-rich mineralisation.
The company characterises the sediment-hosted results as pointing to a “district-scale” system and describes Danvers as showing the emergence of a “large copper system”. Those are management’s descriptions, not independent assessments.
The 2026 assay results that led management to describe a district-scale copper system at Rae validated a mineralised footprint well beyond the original discovery area, and they form the technical backdrop to the sediment-hosted priorities.
Surface grades shown in Figure 1 come from selective rock chip and trench sampling and may not be representative.
