Albion Resources Starts Deep Drilling at Gidgee With Assays Due Late November
Key Takeaways
- RC drilling has started at German Well South, targeting extensions to mineralisation identified over approximately 400m of strike and open downplunge in fresh rock.
- RC assay results are anticipated in late November 2026, with AC assays from the broader Gidgee pipeline due over the coming weeks.
- Historical intercepts of 21m at 5.4 g/t Au and 16m at 5.5 g/t Au set the benchmark, but they are from the 2 March 2026 announcement, not new results.
- This is the first drilling across Gidgee in about 12 years, in a belt that has produced more than 1 million ounces of gold.
- Horizon Gold's Omega deposit, 1km north, historically produced approximately 84,000oz at 5.3 g/t Au, though Albion says the economic significance of its own results is not yet established.
RC drilling commences at Gidgee Gold Project targeting German Well South extensions
Albion Resources (ASX:ALB) has commenced RC drilling at its Gidgee Gold Project in Western Australia, targeting extensions to the advanced German Well South gold target. RC, or reverse circulation, is a drilling method that collects rock samples from deeper below the surface.
The program runs in parallel with the ongoing aircore (AC) drilling campaign across the broader project. At German Well South, mineralisation has been identified over approximately 400m of strike, according to the announcement dated 9 October 2026.
Key points from the update:
- RC drilling is under way at German Well South.
- AC drilling continues across the broader Gidgee target pipeline.
- AC assay results are expected over the coming weeks and on an ongoing basis, with RC assay results anticipated in late November 2026.
Two programs running at once points to a steady flow of drilling updates for shareholders to track.

German Well South: historical intercepts and drill targets
Historical results (previously reported 2 March 2026)
The intercepts below are historical results from Albion’s 2 March 2026 announcement, “Albion Secures Option to Acquire Gidgee Gold Project”. They are not new results.
| Intercept | Grade | From depth |
|---|---|---|
| 21m | 5.4 g/t Au | 118m |
| 16m | 5.5 g/t Au | 41m |
| 15m | 2.1 g/t Au | 95m |
Grades are measured in grams per tonne (g/t) of gold. Higher numbers mean more gold in each tonne of rock.
What RC is targeting
The current RC program is targeting extensions to the known mineralised system. That includes areas where the existing mineralisation remains open downplunge at depth into fresh rock below the oxidised zone.
Figure 2 in the announcement is a 3D long section showing modelled gold shells at 0.2 g/t Au and 0.5 g/t Au cut-offs, historical intersections and target areas. If drilling finds mineralisation at depth, it could add to the scale of German Well South, though the announcement does not state any such outcome.
How AC and RC drilling work together at Gidgee
AC drilling is a rapid method used to test shallow targets in the oxidised zone, the weathered rock near the surface. RC drilling then follows up on successful targets, going deeper into fresh rock.
Mr Goh described the approach this way:
“Our strategy is to systematically test these areas with aircore drilling, identify and define mineralised systems and then follow up with RC drilling where warranted.”
A staged approach lets a company screen many targets with a quicker method before committing to deeper drilling. The broader regional pipeline includes:
- Virgo
- Tokey Central
- Wilson Splay
Albion’s immediate exploration strategy is focused on two objectives:
- Build scale at German Well South, including testing extensions to the known gold mineralisation.
- Systematically test the broader regional target pipeline.
A proven gold belt with limited modern drilling
Gidgee sits within the Gum Creek Greenstone Belt, a district that has produced more than 1 million ounces of gold. It hosts approximately 2.8 million ounces of identified gold Mineral Resources across Horizon Gold’s Gum Creek Project and Brightstar Resources’ nearby Montague Project.
Those resources belong to third parties. Albion states it has relied on publicly available information and has not independently estimated or verified them.
A notable example is Horizon Gold’s Omega deposit, located approximately 1km north of German Well South. It historically produced approximately 84,000oz of gold at an average grade of 5.3 g/t Au.
Despite the belt’s endowment, parts of the project have seen limited modern exploration. The last recorded drilling across the project was in 2014, and the current AC and RC campaign represents the first drilling across the project in approximately 12 years.
Gold mineralisation in the belt is associated with major regional shear corridors, including the Tokey West, Tokey and Wilson shear systems, which extend through or adjacent to Albion’s tenure. The project lies between Wiluna, Sandstone, Meekatharra and Mount Magnet, with access to established roads, mining services and regional processing infrastructure.

Next steps and assay timing
Albion expects exploration activity at Gidgee to remain high over the coming weeks:
- RC drilling continuing at German Well South.
- AC drilling continuing across the German Well area and the broader Gidgee target pipeline.
- AC assay results expected over the coming weeks and on an ongoing basis thereafter.
- RC assay results anticipated in late November 2026.
Assay results are the catalyst to watch. Albion notes the potential economic significance of the exploration results has not yet been established, and further work is required before any conclusions regarding resources or development.
