Croydon Gold Project delivers encouraging results across multiple prospects

CZR Resources (ASX: CZR) has announced exploration results from a substantial drilling campaign across its Croydon Gold Project in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. A total of 214 aircore holes were completed across the Baskerville and Frank’s Patch prospects, representing the first comprehensive test of both areas, with diamond drilling at the Top Camp prospect confirming the mineralised system extends to significant depth.

Milan Jerkovic, Acting CEO, CZR Resources

“These are very encouraging results which highlight the potential from both prospects. It’s pleasing the initial diamond drilling results from Top Camp have validated our current interpretation and will improve our targeting of the next phase of work.”

What the drill results show

Frank’s Patch — shallow mineralisation along a 500m corridor

53 aircore holes (26FPAC001–053) were drilled at Frank’s Patch, targeting an extensive gold-in-soil anomaly identified during previous geochemical surveys. The program returned 19 significant gold intercepts at a 0.1 g/t Au cutoff, with standout results including:

  • 14m @ 0.61 g/t Au from 4m, including 4m @ 1.35 g/t Au from 12m (26FPAC025)
  • 2m @ 1.03 g/t Au from 5m to end of hole (26FPAC042)
  • 1m @ 0.92 g/t Au from 20m (26FPAC027)

The anomalous zone has a coherent strike length of approximately 500m and remains open along strike and at depth. The gold-in-soil anomaly has a cumulative length of greater than 2km, meaning approximately 1,500m of strike is yet to be tested and represents a high-priority follow-up target. Results are also supported by multi-element pathfinder geochemistry, including anomalism in As, Mo, Zn, and Sb, which is consistent with the Top Camp geological setting.

Baskerville — gold anomalism identified beneath shallow cover

161 aircore holes (26BAAC001–161) were completed at Baskerville, representing the first gold exploration drilling ever conducted in this area. The program covered broad reconnaissance lines across drainage systems surrounding the Sherlock River, testing key stratigraphic positions beneath an alluvial plain.

The best result was 8m @ 0.22 g/t Au from 12m (26BAAC048), situated at the contact zone of a regional granitoid with a sanukatoid geochemical affinity. Sanukatoid intrusions are significant because they were a key targeting criterion used in the discovery of the Hemi Gold Deposit (13.2 Moz, Northern Star Resources/De Grey Mining). To be clear, this reference is a geological targeting parallel only. CZR has not made a discovery of comparable scale. Surrounding holes 26BAAC047 and 26BAAC046 also show elevated gold and pathfinder elements, along with deeper weathering that may indicate a fertile structural zone. Importantly, transported cover is minimal at just 2–10 metres, which makes cost-effective follow-up drilling across larger areas practical.

Top Camp — diamond drilling confirms depth potential

Four diamond drill holes (26TCDD001–004) were completed at Top Camp. Initial assay results have been received for one hole (26TCDD004), with results for the remaining three holes pending. The single assayed hole returned multiple significant gold intersections, demonstrating that the mineralised system extends to considerable depth below previous RC drilling. The key intervals are summarised below.

Hole ID From (m) To (m) Width (m) Au (g/t)
26TCDD004 125.85 126.65 0.80 6.550
26TCDD004 188.00 189.00 1.00 0.970
26TCDD004 201.00 201.90 0.90 0.970
26TCDD004 205.30 213.00 7.70 2.090

The 7.7m @ 2.09 g/t Au from 205.30m interval is particularly notable. Mineralisation within this zone is related to a large semi-laminated quartz-carbonate-pyrite-galena vein within carbonate-altered sandstone, and it confirms deep significant gold mineralisation below previously reported RC intersections. Results for the remaining three diamond holes are expected within approximately one month, making this a near-term catalyst for the project.

What is aircore drilling and why does it matter for early-stage gold exploration?

Aircore (AC) drilling uses compressed air to drive a drill bit into near-surface rock, returning rock chips to surface where geologists sample and analyse them. It is fast and cost-effective, making it well suited to testing large areas during early-stage exploration when the priority is identifying which zones are worth investigating further.

Diamond drilling, by contrast, retrieves a continuous cylinder of intact rock (core) from depth. This provides detailed structural and geological data that goes well beyond what surface chip samples can tell you, and it is significantly more expensive per metre drilled.

CZR’s program illustrates how the two methods work together. Aircore was used to cost-effectively screen large areas across Baskerville and Frank’s Patch, identifying the zones most worthy of follow-up. Diamond drilling then tested the Top Camp system at depth, providing the structural information needed to plan the next phase of work. For investors, this is how companies convert broad reconnaissance into drill-ready targets without overspending early capital.

Buddadoo and the path ahead

Buddadoo Mining Lease application signals project advancement

In parallel with Croydon gold exploration, CZR lodged a Mining Lease application (M59/800) over the Buddadoo Vanadium-Titanium-Magnetite (VTM) project in early September. The project covers a 6km strike length and has had several phases of RC and diamond drilling, metallurgical work, and baseline environmental studies completed. CZR is currently internally validating datasets to determine the scale of additional work, including any further drilling, required to advance the project toward a JORC 2012-compliant resource. Environmental studies, stakeholder engagement, and metallurgical, hydrogeological, and geotechnical reviews are planned to commence over coming months.

The Robe River joint venture represents a separate corporate development thread for CZR, with a $75 million acquisition offer having reshaped the company’s balance sheet position and its capacity to fund ongoing exploration across projects including Croydon.

Near-term catalysts to watch

CZR has an active, multi-front work programme underway with several potential news flow opportunities expected in the near term:

  • Assay results from the remaining three Top Camp diamond holes expected within approximately one month
  • Heritage clearance planning to commence at Frank’s Patch to enable RC drilling across the full 2km+ soil anomaly
  • RC drilling planned beneath the identified gold zones at both Frank’s Patch and Baskerville
  • Site works planned at the Martin Gossan prospect to allow drilling to commence
  • Rock chip and reconnaissance results pending from the Yarraloola and Yarrie prospects
  • Buddadoo environmental and technical studies commencing over coming months

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the latest CZR Croydon Gold Project exploration results?

CZR Resources completed 214 aircore holes at the Baskerville and Frank's Patch prospects, returning 19 significant gold intercepts at Frank's Patch including 14m @ 0.61 g/t Au, while diamond drilling at Top Camp returned high-grade intervals including 0.80m @ 6.55 g/t Au and 7.7m @ 2.09 g/t Au at depth.

What is aircore drilling and how does it differ from diamond drilling?

Aircore drilling uses compressed air to return rock chips from near-surface depths and is fast and cost-effective for screening large areas, while diamond drilling retrieves a continuous core of intact rock from depth, providing detailed structural data at significantly higher cost per metre.

Why is the sanukatoid reference at Baskerville significant for CZR investors?

Sanukatoid intrusions were a key geological targeting criterion used in the discovery of the Hemi Gold Deposit, which contains 13.2 million ounces — CZR's best Baskerville result sits at a granitoid contact with sanukatoid geochemical affinity, making it a geologically meaningful follow-up target, though no comparable discovery has been made.

When will CZR Resources release the remaining Top Camp diamond drill results?

Results from the three remaining Top Camp diamond holes are expected within approximately one month of the announcement, representing a near-term catalyst for the Croydon Gold Project.

What is the Buddadoo project and how does it relate to CZR's Croydon gold exploration?

Buddadoo is a separate Vanadium-Titanium-Magnetite project where CZR has lodged a Mining Lease application over a 6km strike length, with environmental studies and technical reviews planned to commence in coming months — it runs in parallel to the Croydon gold exploration programme rather than being part of it.
