Evergold strikes new gold zone at Mt Monger, expanding the Duchess of York footprint
Evergold Minerals (ASX: EG1) has confirmed a new zone of shallow gold mineralisation approximately 600m northwest of the Duchess of York (DOY) main zone at its Mt Monger Gold Project, located around 70km southeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The new zone, named Vanguard, was identified through aircore drilling and returned broad, consistent gold intercepts across three adjacent holes at 50m spacing.
The standout result was 19m at 0.86 g/t Au from 28m, including 4m at 2.37 g/t Au from 40m, in hole MM26AC0022. Supporting holes returned 9m at 1.01 g/t Au from 24m (MM26AC0023) and 4m at 0.65 g/t Au from 16m (MM26AC0024). Together with historical RC drilling immediately to the east, these results define an interpreted mineralised footprint of approximately 250m from west to east. The anomaly extends a further approximately 250m north-northeast to MM26AC0003 (which returned 8m at 0.58 g/t Au from surface) and remains open.

What the Vanguard results mean — and how they connect to the broader system
Aircore intercepts link to historical RC drilling
The 2026 aircore hits at Vanguard sit immediately west of, and shallower than, RC intercepts drilled in 2021 by Mt Monger Resources Limited (ASX: MTM). Those historical results — restated here for context, not new EG1 results — included 12m at 1.06 g/t Au from 66m (including 2m at 3.45 g/t Au) in 21MMRC006, 4m at 1.2 g/t Au from 58m in 21MMRC011, and 4m at 0.53 g/t Au from 34m in 21MMRC007.
Combined, the 2026 aircore intercepts and the 2021 RC intercepts define an interpreted mineralised footprint extending approximately 250m from west to east, from within 16m of surface in MM26AC0024 to around 70m depth in 21MMRC006. Importantly, the geometry linking the aircore and RC intercepts is interpreted and as yet untested by drilling.
Same geology, same gold system
Geological logging of the Vanguard holes recorded mineralisation associated with stockwork quartz veining overprinting a porphyry–sediment contact zone, where a bleached felsic porphyry intrudes oxidised chert, ironstone and shale. Visible sulphides were observed within the veined intervals during logging.
This is precisely the same geological association that controls gold mineralisation at the Duchess of York main zone. The company’s view is that this consistency supports Vanguard being an extension of the same mineralised system. As the announcement explicitly notes, sulphides and vein textures were identified visually during logging only — no estimate of abundance or grade has been made from logging observations, and all grades reported are from laboratory assay.
Understanding aircore drilling — what these results tell us, and what comes next
Aircore drilling is a rapid, cost-effective first-pass technique well suited to testing extension positions around a known gold system. Holes are drilled and sampled as 4m composites, meaning grade is averaged across each 4m interval. This approach efficiently confirms the position and width of mineralisation, but it does not resolve the grade distribution within each interval.
That distinction matters when you’re reading these results. The key points to understand:

Each hole intersected mineralisation at a similar position in the weathering profile, the highest-grade composite in MM26AC0022 sits within the broader 19m zone rather than as an isolated spike, and the intercepts step progressively deeper to the east toward the historical RC results. That coherence across three holes at 50m spacing is what warrants the step up to RC drilling.
The coherence of the Vanguard intercepts echoes the continuity observed at the main zone, where the widest gold intercept at Mt Monger was recorded earlier in the 2026 aircore program and pointed to a broad, consistent mineralised envelope rather than narrow, erratic veining.
Resource definition drilling commences October — maiden MRE targeted for early 2027
RC drilling is scheduled to commence at Duchess of York in approximately four weeks from the announcement date of 16 September 2026, placing the start around October 2026. The program is designed to define the continuity, geometry and grade distribution of mineralisation at a spacing suitable to support a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE). Following the Vanguard results, that new zone has been added to the RC program, with holes planned to test the extent and geometry of the discovery. Final hole numbers and metres are to be confirmed on commencement.
The company is targeting a maiden MRE at Duchess of York in early 2027. The timing and outcome of any estimate is dependent on the results of the resource definition program and subsequent estimation work, and there is no certainty that a Mineral Resource will be defined.
The Vanguard discovery builds on a sequence of drilling milestones at Mt Monger; the best grade results at Duchess of York from earlier in the program established the high-grade core of the main zone that the current resource definition campaign is designed to delineate.
