Spodumene Mountain strike length surges 115% to 1.4 km as all seven new drill holes hit pegmatite
WhiteRock Lithium Corp. (ASX: WLC) has announced that the strike length at its Spodumene Mountain prospect has more than doubled, extending from 650 m to 1,400 m following the first seven holes of its 2026 diamond drilling campaign at the Banana Lithium Project in Québec, Canada. Spodumene-bearing lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatite was visually confirmed in every one of the seven new holes, with intersections up to 77.4 m of pegmatite recorded in hole BL26-035.
The system remains open along strike and at depth, with three diamond drill rigs continuing to work systematically across the mineralised corridor. To date, 7 of the 50–60 planned holes have been completed, representing 1,903 m of total drilling.
These are visual and geological results only. Assay grades are expected within approximately three weeks. As the company notes, visual estimates of mineral abundance should not be considered a proxy or substitute for laboratory analyses where grades are the factor of principal economic interest.

What is an LCT pegmatite and why does strike length matter?
An LCT pegmatite is a coarse-grained igneous rock enriched in lithium, caesium, and tantalum. These rocks can concentrate lithium minerals into economically significant deposits, making them a primary exploration target for battery metals. At Spodumene Mountain, the dominant lithium-bearing mineral is spodumene, a pyroxene mineral that is a key source of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide used in battery manufacturing.
Strike length refers to the horizontal distance along which a mineralised body has been confirmed through drilling or outcrop mapping. In simple terms, the longer the confirmed strike, the larger the potential resource footprint. A 115% increase in strike length, from 650 m to 1,400 m, means significantly more of the pegmatite system is now understood and documented, feeding directly into the data requirements for a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) targeted for H1 2027.
Northeast and southwest extensions confirmed across 750 m of new ground
Northeast extension: 400 m of new ground confirmed
Four holes (BL26-031, BL26-033, BL26-034, and BL26-036) extended the LCT pegmatite system 400 m northeast beyond ZS-24-007, the furthest northeast hole drilled in 2024. Spodumene mineralisation was visually confirmed in each hole, with coarse-grained crystals ranging from centimetre to decimetre scale visually abundant across the northeast intercepts.
Initial geological interpretation suggests the pegmatite body may be pinching near surface and swelling locally at depth, pointing to further potential down-dip.
Southwest extension: 350 m of new ground confirmed
Three holes (BL26-030, BL26-032, and BL26-035) extended the drilled footprint 350 m southwest beyond ZS-24-029, the previously furthest southwest hole from the 2024 campaign. The thick southwest intervals are characterised by apparent internal fractionation into spodumene-bearing and feldspar-dominant pegmatite domains, with coarse-grained spodumene visually abundant within the spodumene-bearing portions. Observed spodumene grain sizes range from rare millimetre-scale to decimetre-scale, with the majority in the centimetre to decimetre range.
The system remains open to the southwest and down dip. Remaining 2026 drilling is expected to focus on testing the down-dip continuation of the system along the known strike extent.

Preliminary metallurgical testing completed in 2024 also produced 6+% Li₂O spodumene concentrates at 63–87% recovery using heavy liquid separation, indicating DMS as a viable primary processing approach.
